Vegas Baby!

This post could be filled with pictures but I'll try not to post a million of them. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas...but I suppose I'll post a little!

The hubs and I went to Vegas Saturday through Thursday. I met my mother at Animal Kingdom Friday before we left and she took the kids home for the weekend which helped break up the week for all of them. They got to go to the Brevard Zoo and Beauty and the Beast with her before heading back to Tampa.

The doctor had a medical disaster and trauma conference in Vegas. He is in charge of medical disasters for St. Joseph's. In today's world unfortunately something a hospital must be prepared for at all times. Bonus...I tagged along!

As much as we've traveled, it was our first trip to Vegas. We are not gamblers and didn't hit one slot machine. Let me tell you...we ate our way through Vegas and had a few drinks. Each evening we went to a show. I wished that we would have gone to 2 shows some evenings because that was one of my favorite parts.

On our first evening we met one of Carlos' colleagues and his wife at Morimoto. If I had more diverse tastes...it probably would have been amazing. This was my angry chicken...it was okay.

Luckily the dessert was amazing....they set the chocolate ball on fire and it melted into a s'more with marshmallow and ice cream. I ordered my own...no way was I only going to get a few nibbles of that from the doctor.

Monday evening we ate at the French restaurant in the Eiffel Tower that overlooked the Bellagio Fountains. I loved how the windows were lined with little half circle tables for couples to eat at...everyone had a romantic view. We ended dinner with a chocolate soufflé.

Here is a picture from lunch at Mon Abi Gabi overlooking the main sidewalk and Bellagio fountains. We had the perfect table with a wonderful view but yet very private. I could have stayed there all day.

I don't know how I did it but we ate at 2 buffets on the trip. The first one was at Caesars and I was miserably stuffed at the end. Then on the last day...we happened upon the buffet at the Cosmopolitan and although we weren't looking for a buffet, we decided to go for it. It was even more amazing than the first at Caesars. I "paced" myself much better the second time. I had to pace myself to make it to the desserts! They had a gelato bar with all of the gelato that you could eat!

No worries with all of that eating, I squeezed in some gym time.

Total mileage 52.5 for the week --- I can't believe that I still hit that many miles with Vegas!

It was challenging to get in the mileage but I really nailed the strength work. There were some days, I just had to back off the mileage because we walked a crazy amount. My Garmin steps were high every day...pretty much 20,000 steps in addition to my runs. I am a go, go, go kind of girl and there were some afternoons that I was so tired that we had to take a break on a bench or couch.

Have you ever been to Vegas? What is your favorite restaurant or show?
