Halloween Fun and a bunch of miles
The miles are starting to add up as I train for two races, Space Coast half marathon in November and a Disney full in January! I put in the most mileage since my meniscus repair surgery in May. I'm already getting those feelings of "I'm not going to be ready for either one of these races!" I really think I should have put in more 13 milers on Saturdays before I started officially training. Now I'm trying to get used to the distance again and the pace!
I did something that I've never done before on Sunday...along with Heather, we paced the 1:45 group at the Florida Races' Halloween Halfathon. It was so much fun! I was so surprised to turn around at mile 5 and see a bunch of people running with us! We probably had a group of 10 with us. Then as the miles passed, we lost a few people. A few people stayed with us until mile 10, then went around us to head to the finish. It was a windy day and I could only imagine a hard day to PR. I was thankful not to be racing that day! The winds showed 12-13 mph on my Garmin run profile that day. It made it challenging carrying the sign. I was really grateful to be sharing the role of pacing with Heather! Not only did it help with the accountability of 2 people's paces, but it was sweet to pass the sign off each mile! We were a little fast but the course was long...so win, win and 2 guys PR'd that ran with us!!!
After the half, I went half crazy and ran 4 miles at marathon pace, a cool down for a total of 18 on Sunday morning. I felt fine after the half but was toast after 18!
Here is a picture of my characters with my parents on Halloween!
My parents came over for the weekend to watch Jacquelyn race and enjoy the kids on Halloween. They were a huge help as I juggled the weekend's activities and helped me get a few things done around the house! I came home from the race Sunday morning and the the house was clean. Gotta love Mom!
Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!
I'm linking up with #wineddown for their Wednesday blog party!
