Boston 2017

I forgot how much I love this city! The marathon is everywhere!  Look even the Talbots' window has a sign!

This will be my third year running Boston.  This is the first year that Carlos and the kids have come along.

The first year in 2015, I ran it for fun with friends. We ran an even steady pace for 26 miles. It was cold and rainy. That was my 1st marathon after Celebration in January 2014. The weather didn't ruin my first Boston...it was more than I ever imagined.

Then last year 2016...I trained and was ready to run Boston. In a short easy shakeout run 3 days before the marathon...I tore my meniscus. At the time we didn't know what had happened to my knee but I was in a ridiculous amount of pain. Running, jogging, walking...how? I had calculated the time to walk 26 miles. I had a solid plan for an Uber. Probably not the smartest thing I've ever done, but I ran the Boston Marathon. I pr'd by 20 seconds and I got my unicorn!💙💛💙🦄

I was in some serious pain for 2 weeks and had meniscus surgery on May 13, 2016.

What a journey! I'm ready to run this again. A bit wiped since Disney...not many workouts.  In the past few weeks I've finally built a solid base again. Not sure what my game plan is for the marathon on Monday.  My friend Ryan has considered dropping back to my wave and corral so we can run together. I think considering the warm temps expected that it might be nice to have company. I know I'm not PR ready. Just will take this mile by mile to Boylston Street. I do know I'm beyond grateful for this gift to continue to run and to run the greatest marathon ever!
